Reflexology. History:
Massaging and touching the feet to help the body is a very ancient practice. The tomb of Ankhmahor in Egypt dates back to around 2330 BC and the series of pictures found on the tomb show what seems to be a foot massage. Ankhmahor was a physician!
The American Indian tribes where massaging the feet for maintaining physical, mental and spiritual balance.
The Chinese have been using finger pressure (Acupressure) for over 5000 years.
An American E.N.T physician, Dr. William Fitzgerald was the one to realise that by pressing one area of the body you where in fact anaesthetising another area. He divided the body in Ten Zones and developed the basis for the development of Reflexology and the zones are still used to this day.
Eunice Ingham came after Dr. Fitzgerald and continued on his work . She mapped out the body on charts and these are still used today.
Later on Hanna Marquant defined Reflexology Zones which are also horizontal and these work in conjunction with the longitudinal zones created by Dr. Fitzgerald.
It is important to realize that about 7000 nerve ending finish off in the feet!

Electrology. History:
Permanent removal of unwanted hair. In the older days (1889) Galvanic Electrolysis was available after Luigi Galvani had discovered it. Unfortunately this Chemical method was very painful although it was a very permanent. Later on Short Wave Diathermy was discovered and this method was less painful but the results were not as good as the Galvanic method. The Blend method in electrolysis was discovered by Henri St. Pierre and Arthur Hinkle and this was found to be fantastic because here the methods were combined together and the results are the best to achieve! Here are the combination of both the Galvanic and Short Wave Diathermy were both the heat and the chemical of both systems work together! Hence THE BLEND!
The syllabus includes: The study of all methods of Electrology-Galvanic, Short Wave Diathermy and Blend. How each machine works and what methods of electricity they work with. Electrical currents and Needles. Anatomy and Physiology of the Skin, Hair, Endocrinology and the causes of unwanted hair. Other alternative methods of unwanted hair. Practice of treating clients with Electrology treatments.
Students sitting for ITEC exams need to work on a case study which will be monitored and guided by the tutor all throughout the course. Tests and HW will be given regularly. Classes are kept small (six maximum). Practicals must be done under tutor supervision.
Diet and Nutrition.
History: Nutrition has always been a essential factor, going back to our ancestors where from Homo Aquaticus the human became a Homo Sapien. Our distant ancestors ate no dairy or grain products. Most food intolerances come about due to the fact that within the Digestive System, the Enzyme that should be there to work on the food , is non existent, so the body has a hard time trying to absorb. For example: If a person is intolerant to wheat, the enzyme Gluten would be missing from the system. If a person has an intolerance to Lactose, in this case, the Lactose enzyme in the persons` Digestive System is missing. This little explanation has been simplified.
The Syllabus includes: Study of Intolerances, checking also a person`s blood type to see what could be ideal for the person. What are: Minerals, Vitamins, Proteins, Carbohydrates, Fats and Water and their importance in everybody’s diets. Working out what form of eating patterns and what foods a person may have in relation to his/her specific needs or condition. What roles do Antioxidants, Free radicals, Preservatives etc. play on our well being. What life style we lead. Stress factors. Dietary plans for persons to keep themselves healthy. Full revision of the Digestive system.
Students sitting for I.T.E.C. exams need to provide case evidences that they have been working out different programs of eating regimes for 5 different people. This work will be monitored and guidance will be given fully by the tutor. Tests and HW will be given regularly.
